Thomas Weijburg is Team Lead at inav – Institut für Versorgungsforschung in Berlin. He is particularly passionate about transforming and improving healthcare at the intersection of healthcare delivery, technology, data, and research.
His work at inav focuses on delivering large-scale evaluation programmes in health services research in collaboration with stakeholders ranging from university medicine and healthcare providers to technology companies and health insurers. His projects span topics such as Long COVID, post-acute infection syndromes, regional healthcare delivery models, and EHDS readiness among SMEs.
Thomas is a strong advocate for transdisciplinary, evidence-based, and user-centred approaches to healthcare innovation. Before returning to Germany three years ago, he worked within the English NHS across national, regional, and clinical transformation programmes, including in clinical leadership roles. He subsequently spent two and a half years at the Network University Medicine (NUM), leading strategic projects at the interface of research, healthcare delivery, and national collaboration.
Thomas holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Health Leadership from Imperial College London and a Master’s degree in Global Health from University College London, with a focus on health programme management. He is trained in Agile, Lean, and Improvement Science methodologies and was an Improvement Fellow at UCLPartners Health Innovation.
